The Joker’s “Last Run”

I woke up this morning and heard the terrible news about Heath Ledger’s death. This is the same guy who portrayed a cowboy who was having an affair with another cowboy from the movie “Brokeback Mountain” and the very person who portrayed Batman’s arch enemy  “The Joker” from the upcoming bat film “The Dark Knight.”

According to the news, investigations have revealed possible angles. They are ruling it out as a suicide or an overdose on some sleeping pills.

Police spokesman Paul Browne stated that:

“Ledger was found naked and unresponsive, facedown on the floor at the foot of his bed by a housekeeper trying to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse.”

“Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed,” he told CNN.

“This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet.”

Browne later told reporters some prescription medications were found in the room, including sleeping pills.

But he stressed police have made no determination of the cause of Ledger’s death — that would be done by the medical examiner. He said the pills were not “scattered about.”

I may not be one of his fans, but I am saddened by his passing. His portrayal of the “Joker” is something people will be looking forward to once “The Dark Knight” film hits the cinemas this July.

I am looking forward to his interpretation of the Dark Knight’s arch nemesis, and seeing the teaser trailer from last year on the internet, I must say that he has done a good job on his character for this second movie.

I just hope that people wouldn’t be watching this movie just because this happened to be Ledger’s last movie, but for the whole plot of the movie and the characters that are involved in this film.

We will mourn him for his sudden death, but we will also celebrate his life and contributions to the film industry, as well as the characters that he has portrayed over the years.

To you Heath, we comic fanatics are grateful that you decided to take on the character of our well loved Batman villain.
